Digging into our internal conflict with TIME and how to resolve it

Time is defined as ‘The indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole’. I paused when I read this and thought, 'continued progress'- seems to me we subconsciously hinder and /or fight this through three lenses: We want to reverse it and slow down, speed it up and go faster or, are stuck between the two with a tendency to do nothing and feel no closer to our goals or desires.

In my experience with a number of clients, friends and family, the common emotion controlling our relationship with time when e are overwhelmed is FEAR.  And in a time full of unknowns since March 2020 (the start of the pandemic), there has been more than enough fear to go around! The challenge with fear is that if we do not recognize it, it leads to an 'auto-pilot' sensation where our thoughts and actions run amuck. The result? We become disconnected from what is important in the moment.

The key to overcoming FEAR is to pause, get curious, become present and then take action.

Over the next few posts, we will look at how fear impacts our time and what new perspectives we can grow to help us get to that 'continued progress’ in what we want more of in our life, career and relationships!
